Immigration is the basis of America. Looking into the history of our ancestors, we can probably find some one who immigrated to America, unless you are 100 percent Native American. Our country that us "Americans" reside in is the way it is today because of the massive amount of people who have come here from another country. Yet immigration is a word that seems to be frowned upon, which has been an issue for quite sometime. Comparing and contrasting the 1800's to Today's time period finding similarities of the treatment of immigrants wasn't a challenging thing to do.
