Immigrants' OriginsImmigrants come to the US from all over the world. In the 1800's many people were coming over from central and northeastern Europe. Almost every group was disliked by the Americans at one point, and they were almost all discriminated against. Some countries' immigrants would leave their homes to get away from war, or famine and disease. People also wanted to get to America where anything is possible. Today most immigrants are form Central American countries, and countries in Asia. This is different from 100 years ago when most people came from Europe.
